PLEASE DESCRIBE WHERE YOU WORK AND YOUR POSITION THERE

I work at Columbia University as a professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature and an affiliate in The Data Science Institute.

FOR WHAT PROJECTS/SERVICES DID YOUR COMPANY HIRE XYONIX?

The project was called “Improving Vaccine Hesitancy.” It was sponsored by the President’s Office and was completed in partnership with the Center for Disease Control in Maine and the Center for Disease Control in Ulster County.

HOW DID YOU SELECT THIS VENDOR AND WHAT WERE THE DECIDING FACTORS?

They came highly recommended from a colleague at Columbia University.

DESCRIBE THE PROJECT IN DETAIL AND WALK THROUGH THEIR SERVICE PACKAGE.

We worked with Xyonix to collect millions of posts and comments related to vaccination on YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit. Then, we used Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning to analyze the conversations and study the language of vaccine hesitancy online.

HOW MANY RESOURCES FROM THE VENDOR'S TEAM WORKED WITH YOU, AND WHAT WERE THEIR POSITIONS?

I worked primarily with Xyonix’s co-founder Deep, and I met a few times with some of the other engineers on his team.

HOW EFFECTIVE WAS THE WORKFLOW BETWEEN YOUR TEAM AND XYONIX?

It was effective. We set goals and met regularly and Xyonix gave us regular progress updates, milestones, and deliverables.

WHAT DID YOU FIND MOST IMPRESSIVE OR UNIQUE ABOUT XYONIX?

Deep’s expertise in NLP and machine learning. The team has also been very responsive and has shown a high level of professionalism.

ARE THERE ANY AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT OR SOMETHING THEY COULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY?

No. I’m very happy with our partnership.
